1283年、アルフォンソ10世『遊戯の書』に記された4人対戦チェス。盤の四隅に緑（春）・赤（夏）・黒（秋）・白（冬）が陣取り、緑から反時計回りに緑→赤→黒→白の順で手番が進む。ビショップは斜め2マス先へ跳ぶ（間の駒を飛び越え可）。ポーンは自陣コーナーから外側へ2方向に分かれて前進し、最終列で「将軍」（斜め1マスに動く駒）に成る。ある陣営がチェックメイトされると、そのキングは盤から除かれ、残った駒は詰ませた側の駒として乗っ取られる。ステイルメイトされた陣営は、駒を全て盤から除かれて脱落する。最後まで残ったプレイヤーの勝利。
A four-player chess game recorded in 1283 in Alfonso X's Libro de los juegos. Green (spring), Red (summer), Black (autumn), and White (winter) each hold a corner, and turns proceed Green → Red → Black → White. The bishop leaps exactly two squares diagonally (jumping over anything in between). Each player's pawns advance outward from their corner along two different edges, promoting to a "General" (which moves one square diagonally) upon reaching the far edge. A checkmated player's king is removed and their surviving pieces are taken over by whoever delivered the mate; a stalemated player simply loses everything. The last player standing wins.
