Invented by Bobby Fischer. The back rank is randomized from 960 possible starting positions, with the only constraints being that bishops occupy opposite-colored squares and the king starts between the two rooks. Castling still lands the king on the g-file (kingside) or c-file (queenside) and the rook on the f-file or d-file, regardless of where they started. All other rules are identical to standard chess.
